Members of our Aird & Berlis LLP Technology & Communications Group, which includes the Communications, Intellectual Property, Privacy and Technology Teams, have a great deal of experience in advising domestic and international investors, suppliers and operators of communications services on these ever-changing fields to ensure that they are up-to-date on recent and rapidly evolving Canadian legal issues.
Aird & Berlis LLP has expanded its multi-disciplinary Technology & Communications Group of 16 professionals with the addition of two leading lawyers.
John Andrew, a corporate lawyer advising various international technology companies and a major new entrant in the Canadian wireless market, and Ariane Siegel, an internationally-recognized business lawyer with specialized expertise in telecommunications, privacy and e-commerce, bring a wealth of experience to these areas of law.
The field of communications and technology law in Canada is in a state of rapid development. Since 2002, four government-sponsored telecommunication consultancies have called for the relaxation of Canada's foreign investment restrictions in telecommunications enterprises, and on June 11, 2010, the Canadian government released a consultation paper on the relaxation of these rules. This consultation will continue until July 30, 2010. In addition, since May 15, 2010, the Canadian government has introduced several important proposed bills respecting our digital economy.
Aird & Berlis LLP continues to take advantage of opportunities to strengthen our expertise and knowledge in all areas of law that will provide our clients with the highest level of quality service and standards of professionalism.
